We are in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECpE), Iowa State University of Science and Technology (ISU), Ames, Iowa, USA.
Iowa State University of Science and Technology (a.k.a. Iowa State University, Iowa State, or ISU) is a public land-grant research university. Founded in 1858 as the Iowa Agricultural College and Model Farm, Iowa State became one of the nation's first designated land-grant institution in 1862. In 1959, the college was officially renamed Iowa State University of Science and Technology. Iowa State is classified among "R1: Doctoral Universities – Very high research activity". The university is home to the Ames Laboratory, one of ten national U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science research laboratories, the Biorenewables Research Laboratory, the Plant Sciences Institute, and various other research institutes. Iowa State University's athletic teams, the Cyclones, compete in Division I of the NCAA and is a founding member of the Big 12.
The College of Engineering is one of the nation’s 7th largest, and as per the 2010 NRC (research arm of National Academies) rankings, the ECpE Department is tied at 28th. The University has been fostering world class education and research for over 165 years and our Department currently enrolls over 320 graduate students in five strategic areas: Bioengineering, Cyber Infrastructure, Data-Decisions-Networks-&-Autonomy, Energy Infrastructure, and Materials-Devices-&-Circuits. Among the 50+ faculty, we have 19 IEEE Fellows, 2 IEEE Distinguished Lecturers, 8 AAAS/ASEE/APS/RAE Fellows, and 21 NSF CAREER/PYI Award winners.
Our Research interest is in Medical Imaging Systems, Photoacoustic and Thermoacoustic Imaging, Image Reconstruction, Machine Learning, Medical Image Processing, Contrast Agents, Molecular Imaging, Monte-Carlo Simulation for light-tissue interaction, Biomedical Optics, Biomedical Device Design, Clinical Application areas such as Breast Cancer Imaging, Brain Imaging, Pancreatic Cancer, Diabetes, Treatment Monitoring etc. Please go through our research page for more details about our work. Also go through our publication page to know more about our recent/past scientific work. If you are willing to join our group, please see if there is any vacancy in the opportunities page.
